O 3º prémio será atribuído no próximo ano no Encontro Nacional em Lisboa.

Her book manuscript, "Pursue the Illusion: Problems of Public Poetry in America," will be published as volume 2 of the EAAS book series European Views of the United States. I am going to present the award to Astrid Franke during the March, 2010 biennial conference in Dublin.

EAAS also wishes to recognize the achievement of the runner-up, Dr. Anna Pochmara (University of Warsaw), whose manuscript is entitled "Engendering the New Negro: A Gender and Sexuality Studies Analysis of Harlem Renaissance Discourse."

CONCURSOS / EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Dear all,

the Board Meeting at Aarhus in August 2008 had decided that a "vacant positions" column should be added to the ESSE website, in which universities throughout Europe could advertise positions in the field of English Studies.

I am glad to announce that I have at last got round to implementing the resolution. The new column can be found at http://www.essenglish.org/jobs

So far we only have one announcement - and the job description so far is only available in German -, but I trust that once you have made this new service known to your colleagues in your national associations this is destined to become a very popular tool for us all.

I would obviously be thankful if you could give wide publicity to this new service.

Yours,

Jacques
