What is a Blog (or a  Weblog)?

A blog is an online diary or log.

What is "let's blog!"?

It is a two-way () communication tool: from me to you and from you to me.

It is our way of talking in English outside of class.

It is a fun way for you to practice English away from school.

Everything you send me will be on this page!

Our blog will include fun and interesting activities, readings and exercises from the Internet that you can do at home when you feel like it (= quando te apetecer). You can also send me your suggestions of activities! I will publish them on this page.

So. . . when you have a suggestion, or something you would like to tell us, please click on the email icon on the right (the bottle). Don't forget to start your message with "Hello" or "Hi" and to include your name and class (7A, 7B, 7C) at the end! I will not publish anonymous messages!

Remember: We are in this together!

With your participation, this blog can be great fun!

Send in you first message right away and I will put it on this page immediately!

Hi everyone!

I've been going over papers and found a leaflet (= panfleto) about the Portuguese Museum of Bread that I visited with my family during the summer holidays. It's in Serra da Estrela, quite close to Seia. It's interesting to visit and the restaurant/bar has a veranda with a fabulous view of the valley.

Click on the link above and take a virtual visit of the museum. If you want to see me and my younger son, Miguel, buying a "broa" at the Traditional Grocer's Shop - I'm "so young" that I remember a very similar grocer's shop in Parede! - click here. Weren't those nice looking grocer's shops? Visiting it brought back good memories of my childhood!

Enjoy! And let me know your impressions!

Hi, Sara!

It was great to see you yesterday at the school gate right before our morning classes!. On Wednesday I also met Xavier and the same has happened with several of you since the beginning of the school year.

It's very pleasant to see you with a great big smile   on your faces and hear a lively "Hi, teacher!".

I understand that everything is going well. Great! I hope it continues that way.

I have a suggestion for all my students from last year: write and tell me about your pet(s). Tell me anything you'd like: what pet you have, how long you have had it, its name and a physical description, (funny) tricks it does, how it behaves, etc.

Remember those Web pages with some of your work from last year? Well, I promise to make a Web page dedicated to your pets.

I hope that those of you who read the blog regularly will pass the word around to the other classes. I'll be anxiously waiting for your texts!

You can count with me, I will talk with my colleagues and for my part I know that you can count with me 'cause I want that the project and the blog keep going and carry on...
I have read the messagers of Cláudia and Sara. I am happy to know that yours students of the 5th grades are nice and that you like to teach them.

Hi, Joana!

I was online chatting with a friend in Spain when your message arrived.

Thank you for taking care of things. It's very sweet of you.

Hi teacher.. I miss you, and I miss your classes too!! My holidays were fantastic, I loved it! And you, how are you? How were your holidays?

My new English teacher is good, but you are very, very good!
My class is big, there are 26 students, like the last year.
My parents want to send me to England, in the next summer! I want go but.. alone.. I don't want!
l took to Mónica about this and she wants to go, too but her parents, I tink, they don't want it!
I saw the e-mail of Joana, is there any chat? Well.. is a good idea!
So..bye-bye and a lot of kisses for you from

Re: hi. .

Dear Sara,

Your sweet message has made my day! Thank you!

I miss you all very much too, but I decided to approach this change positively and try to have as much fun as possible with my younger students. I'm enjoying it and trying to make them enjoy class. I think they are!

My holidays were great down in the Algarve and up in the Serra da Estrela area. Next year we are thinking of sailing up the Douro River. It's a beautiful part of our country.

Sara, I think you should "grab" the opportunity of going to England next summer. My two sons went on a study program for two weeks about three years ago and they enjoyed it. It is also great in terms of your English, which is already very good. Promise to think about it carefully, will you?

I'm glad you are enthusiastic about the chat. I'll tell you what: why don't you arrange things with your friends and let me know the day and time. I am at home most afternoons. And don't forget to tell me where: MSN? Yahoo Messenger (YM)? Another platform? I use YM regularly, but MSN is no problem for me.

Have a great week at school. I hope to see you there - I haven't seen you this year yet - and give you a big kiss.

Love from your former teacher and friend,

Teresa Almeida d'Eça

Nice words about our blog from my colleague, Maria, in Australia. An interesting coincidence, Sara!

While I was replying to a very nice message from my colleague, Maria Rendon, I got an "alert" saying I had a new message in Yahoo. I immediately clicked on "Go to new message" and saw your sweet email above, Sara.

So what's the coincidence? Well, here is what my friend Maria said:

"I have just checked your blog and I loved the way your students show they love you, and I think the way they can express themselves in English is amazing, Joana did a great description of her hollidays. Best of lucks with the continuity of the blog. I hope you can go into the chat with your kids."

I told her about this coincidence, and she added something very significant:

"I wanted to mention AnaClaudia as well, she is lovely. Tell her to keep up learning and using the computer to learn and help others to learn.

The chat experience will be great. Let me know how it goes."

My comment: Who knows, girls, we may end up inviting our friend Maria for a chat! I'd love that!
