meet face-to-face
in Valencia, Spain (3-6 June 2004)

Our f2f meeting started materializing about a month ago when Daf and I were chatting one evening at YM and she said: "Why don't you come to Valencia for my dissertation defense?" As soon as Daf confirmed the date, I told her: "I'm on my way!" :-) María and Arnold would also be there for the special occasion! Our excitement grew as the day approached. As you all know, we have had a very close online relationship at the personal and professional levels for almost two and a half years now. |
3 JUNE (afternoon and evening)
Daf and Teresa's face-to-meeting had finally come true!

There are no pictures of my
meeting with Daf at the Valencia airport around 5 p.m. local time. However,
I can assure you that we were both as excited as can be expected, arms open
to each other, hugging, kissing,
hugging again, and hardly believing the moment of our f2f meeting had
finally arrived! :-)
But this Webheads' special moment wasn't over. Arnold was with Daf. As is typical of the Latin people, I opened my arms and kissed him on both cheeks with a cheerful smile on my face. I immediately felt among longtime friends with both Daf and Arnold. At the same time that all this was going on at the airport, Maria was arriving by train in Valencia. Since this wasn't her first visit, she took a cab to the hotel, where we met a couple of hours later: a third exciting occasion in a couple of hours! Again I felt very much as if I had known her for a long time. She is a very lively and talkative person with a beautiful smile. |
