Teresa and Jean Marc Dieu (Bee's son)
meet face-to-face
in Lisbon, Portugal (13 May 2004)

When Jean Marc arrived, I had no doubt it was him. He had told me he was 1,94 m tall and blonde. I walked up to him, both of us smiling, and I said: "Olá, Jean Marc! Que grande prazer!" (Hi, Jean Marc! What a pleasure!) And then, owing to my short stature, I said: "I'm used to looking up to speak to the three men in my family, but you top them all!" (big grin) We felt immediately at home with each other. During a short wait for a table with a view of the river, we took these pictures. |

Marc with the Tejo in the background. It was his first time in this area.
Now tell me, is he tall or not?! ;-) |
Me with the Tejo, 25 de Abril Bridge and Cristo Rei in the background. I love Lisbon! It's a beautiful city! :-) |

| These photos were taken inside Portugália during a very pleasant two and half hour long dinner. We weren't quiet for a minute. | ||||
| Jean Marc told
me about his move to Europe, college in Belgium and work in Barcelona,
where he lives. I talked about my four years in the States, back in the
early sixties, and how it influenced my future, about my
family and professional life.
Curiously, he asked me to talk about the Webheads so that he could understand what made his mother feel such enthusiasm, do what she does and stay online for hours. Necessarily, we talked about education in general. He admired the groundbreaking work Webheads do. Though both of us are involved with high-tech activities in different ways, we called it a night/dinner ;) on a very low-tech note: me writing his Yahoo ID on a piece of paper ripped off from the paper tablecloth! None of us had brought along a card. How we laughed! * * * * * * Jean Marc, it was a pleasure to meet you and have such an interesting and fun "bate papo" (talk)! Hope we can meet again! Bee, congratulations on such a nice son! |
