Teresa and Joti (Michael Coghlan's son)
meet face-to-face
in Cascais, Portugal (11 December 2004)

Michael (click here to see a short movie about his life) and I had been talking about the possibility of this f2f meeting, because Joti would be cycling into Lisbon for a few days. Joti finally arrived without his bicycle - it had been stolen somewhere in the south of Spain! -, gave me a call and we made arrangements to have dinner in Cascais. I suggested he visit that beautiful small town during the afternoon and we meet around 8:00 p.m. that Saturday evening. |

The restaurant where Joti and
I had a very nice dinner and pleasant conversation for around three hours.
It's an old-timer and 'classic' in Cascais. And... it's the same place where Sus and I had a couple of dinners and wonderful conversation back in Apr. 2002. |

Subject: lovely dinner :-)
Dear Michael,
I've just come from a
lovely three-hour dinner with Joti. Not having an agenda, but always
lots to talk about must run in the Webhead family! We didn't stop
talking for a minute. :-)
Joti spent the
afternoon walking around Cascais, a very nice small place with a lovely
bay. In the evening he sat on a rock looking at the sun set in the
ocean.
I met him near the town
hall and took him to a restaurant where I often go with Joao and
friends. We took a look at the fish before sitting down and decided on
what we'd have: two very nice big, meaty and juicy grilled fish
(carapaus) each with boiled potaoes and brocolli, and spanish sauce. Of
course we drank some nice red wine from Alentejo, famous for its wines.
We talked about so many
things: his trip, places he's been to - he's crazy about Morocco -, his
studies, my two sons and their courses, fee systems at university in
Portugal and Australia - parents have to pay for everything here!!! -, a
little bit about the Webheads and you, "the voice", etc.
He showed me some lovely
photos he took in Algarve (south of Portugal) and in Cascais, and I told
him h should make some Web pages when he gets back home. He has fabulous
stuff and a great knack for photography, an option he considered before
architecture, right?
Then I suggested he go into
Lisbon tomorrow, walk up to the castle and take some fabulous photos. He
may be moving to a camp site nearer my area. If so, we may meet again.
He's a very sweet
and pleasant young man. I think the empathy was mutual and we both
enjoyed each other's company.
Congrats, Michael, on a
lovely son!
Hope you enjoy the photos.
Hugs,
Teresa

Re: lovely dinner :-)
So wonderful to hear all of this Teresa, and
to see the photos of you together - wow! OK - I know Webheads is a real
thing, but when I see you and Joti together, it's like a dream becoming a
little more real! I'm so glad you enjoyed each other's company. Thank you
so much for meeting him Teresa - as a parent it's always nice to know that
your children are safe and well, and even better, in good company. I
*love* the photo of the two of you at the dinner table. |
